&! Custom 404 Pages
*This tutorial only works with a domain (http://yourdomain.com).
Okay, once I got a new domain, I know I was so excited to get a 404 page instead of those ugly regular ones haha!! And I think you might like one, too :D Just in case you were wondering, 404 pages are when you have maybe a broken link or something, and then people click it to come up with a page like this. So now you can have one like mine instead of those!
1. Make a new page with your software (I have Dreamweaver)
so it will be matching and all perty with, well, you know what I mean, lol.
2. Once you make it all nice, name the page "404.html" or "error.html"
3. Open up wordpad or notepad and add this code into it:
Make sure you don't change anything from inside that box except your URL
of your 404 page.
4. Save that file as htaccess.txt.
5. When you save it, upload that into your FTP in the main folder. Once it is
in there, right click on the file and rename it as .htaccess and nothing
else!!
6. Once it is in there, right click on the file and rename it as .htaccess
and nothing else!! The file might dissapear, and that is okay.
7. Tada! Wasn't that easy? Now you have a perfect 404 page. Go test it out like
"yourdomain.jklsdjfkljsl.html"!
